Maria#2, from the series Maria, is a work about memory geographies, a portrait of personal reminiscences and past experiences of my grandmother fused with, my one memories and scraps of information, from the range of feminine rites of passage. A narrative of emotional intersections of a body that receives and channels unconscious marks of the Other.
The Woman presented in this work assumes almost an anonymity by the agglutination of identities which may mirror other “Maria’s”.
Maria#2 was presented at Galeria Bielska BWA in Bielsko-Biała (Poland), during the opening of the 3rd edition of Bielsko-Biala Visual Arts Festival, curated by Agata Smalcerz.
Maria is an artistic research where I question, through different mediums, the product of memory in its transfer from body to body in context over times. The movement and aesthetics of memory are the core of this work, for exploring parallel correlated issues, around the female body and it’s the place lato sensu.
In this research I created a series of performances about memory geographies, a portrait of personal reminiscences and past experiences of my grandmother fused with my one memories and scraps of information's from the range of feminine rites of passage.
The embodiment of memory leads me to the symbolic physical performance of several actions with a focus on female body, memories dimensions, anthropometries and temperatures.
The Woman presented in this work assumes almost an anonymity by the agglutination of identities which may mirror other “Maria’s”. A narrative of emotional intersections of a body that receives and channels unconscious marks of the Other.
In a constant redefinition of "what it was" and "how it is remembered" the multiplicity of pasts generate a post-imaginary memory. Is in this auto-mixed-biographism that Maria takes one body and multiple faces. Maria is a migrant body in a collective memory pool. A voyage to the fauna of mirrors which explores the complexity of memory behavior
